Jessica's Pendants

So Jessica is wanting an iPod.  And I figured that instead of telling her that she's too young, that I would help her on a journey towards one.  This has been an excellent opportunity to teach her about money, working towards a goal, math, creativity, ambition, and so on.  She has AMAZED me at how driven she is.  I feel extreemly proud and fortunate to be her mother and what an inspiration such a little girl can be.

I love being creative with my kids.  So I thought that Jessica and I could kill two birds with one stone... we could make some fused glass pendants to sell to friends and family!  So we went one morning to Fired-Up Glass Arts to create some pendants together!

We had a lot of fun, and Jessica got to even smash up some of the glass that she put on the pendants to decorate them!

When it came time to pick the pendants (and a few tiles) up, I was amazed at how beautiful they were!  Jessica made all but a couple of the pendants, namely two of the flower ones, and it was so neat to see how different they looked once fired and fused together.

I took some "nice" pictures of the pendants with the help of Jessica, and then I posted them to Facebook.  I asked $10 each, and they all (but 2) sold within a couple of days!  Such an amazingly heartwarming response from friends and family!  The majority actually sold within a few hours!!!  Below are some pictutres that I posted to FB...

Above is the pendant that I choose to keep.  I *tried* to get Jessica to make some more of these flowers, but she was getting antsy to go to the potters guild, so this was the only flower one she made.  I love it ~ it's so precious!
