Glazing... and More Glazing!

So today I went to the Potters Guild and glazed my pots, the entire time I was there! I actually listened to my iPhone for the first time (to a radio station app), which made the time fly by.

Below is all my stuff with wax resist on the bottom. The wax repels the glaze, making it not stick to the kiln shelves.

And these are some of my pieces with clear glaze, and further back with celery glaze.

And lastly, are some various pots glazed with amber, slate blue, Rosie's red, and Sam's white - all different combos really.

And as we were driving home (Chris dropped the kids off at the Guild on his way to work) we saw some Turkeys by the side of the road!

A Table Fort

So my goal for Jessica's birthday was to make her a kick ass table fort... But the night before her birthday had come, and I hadn't started, so I grabbed some old bed sheets that I didn't sell at our Garage sale and quickly sewed!

And I had some visitors come along too...

So after a bit more sewing, it was finally complete! And Jessica loved it - she had a great time playing in it with her friends!

Some Time

So Chris took the girls for a drive so I could get a few jewelry orders done. Below is some in progress...

A Forest Walk

Chris and I took the girls for a walk at the Sportsmen's Club yesterday, on a search to find shed deer antlers. Although we didn't find any, we had fun exploring - and Jess had fun getting wet!!!

And I loved seeing some first signs of new growth!

Jessica's Glass Tile

I picked up the glass tile that Jess made last weekend on my way home from pottery on Wednesday. Below is Jessica and Amanda opening it. I love how colourful it is!

My Day at the Guild

I spent a few hours at the guild today. I attempted to spiral wedge some clay (around 5lbs x2), and I made a bunch of 1lb little balls (5 to be exact) to throw on the wheel. I wasn't too successful with the spiral wedging - too many air bubbles - so I just threw it and then reclaimed the clay from that. The smaller 1 lb balls are pictured below... The majority will most likely be made into mugs.

And this is another little bowl that I completed...

I also did some more work on a little "moonshine" jug for Chris. I just have to figure out where to put the little finger handle...

I also put the trays from last Saturday, and a couple of little dipping trays in the kiln room to be bisque fired.

Family Day

This is my 3 year old joining in on a "flash mob" dance that they taught. I love it how she isn't afraid to just join in. It was too cute how she could keep up with the moves that they just showed them!

Mother-Daughter Day

Today Jessica and I had a nice day. We first went to the Potters Guild and had a bit of fun rolling out slabs of clay together. Jessica's a great slab wheel turner, and she helped me a lot by turning the wheel as I pulled the canvas cloth and clay through the rollers. We had picked out some trays to mold the slabs of clay onto to paint later on after our glass fusing class.

So once we had set up the molds, we headed on down the road to Fired Up! Glass Studio. We were taking a kids class with our friends Corinne and Emma, and the kids made a tile each. It was a fun experience, and I can't wait to pick up Jessica's tile that she made!

After the class, we all headed back to the potters guild to paint up the slabs Jess and I had made earlier. But first we had some yummy lunch! Jessica and I the day before
made some homemade Alphaghetti - and it was delicious!

So then the girls (Jessica and Emma) decorated the slabs we made earlier with various colours of slip. And those also turned out beautiful!
