Yesterday, I took an awesome workshop through the Guild. I can not believe how much I learned... And the majority of what I found the most informative didn't especially relate to he actual making of a bowl...
David taught us the physics behind actually throwing properly by aligning the clay particles so that they want to stay together. I was taught a new way to cone up and down the clay on the wheel, and to place wedged clay on its side, and not on the end, so that when you're aligning the particles they don't want to stay in the same spirally direction. So informative!

Sculpture Class #4
Today we sculpted the nose and lips, and briefly the eye. It's amazing how much little details are required to be included to make the sculpture more life-like!
After the class was over, I went out for lunch with my friend Corinne. I tried Ethiopian cuisine for the first time... Not too bad at all!
Then I went back to the guild and met Chris there. He brought the girls to me so that he could head off to work.
The girls and I dropped off some fiddle heads (edible baby ferns) that they picked with their Dad earlier at Corinne's. Then we headed over to play at a park, and after that we went to Auntie Tara's to see Nellie the horse!

Queen of Handbuilding!
Today I mostly handbuilt... I drew a bit on some little bisque ware "ring holders" with an underglaze pencil and some underglaze. I also put 2 baby rattles that Jess and I made the other day in the kiln room.
I also made some soap dishes and some more ring/jewelry holders... Oh, and also a big platter! Oh, and a carved leaf bowl that I slumped into another bowl. It's hard trying to remember after the fact! ;)
I made a base for my hand sculpture... And while testing the look out on the base the darn thing fell over! But I half assed patched it up... Over all, I'm pleased with it...
